Become a Maryland 2,000 Veterinary Partner

The Baltimore Animal Welfare Alliance (BAWA) is pleased to invite you to participate in the 2019 Maryland 2,000, a statewide month-long cat adoption event this July. Participation is free, helps us save lives, and makes great business sense for your practice! Below you will find more details about participation as well as a link to register your practice.

Participation Expectations for Maryland 2,000 Veterinary Partners:

  • Provide a complimentary exam for any of the kittens or cats adopted through the program. You can elect to have an end date, e.g. 30-60 days after the end of the program. The participating shelters will give free exam vouchers listing the names of the veterinary practices

  • Congratulate the adopter for adopting a new cat from the shelter

  • Agree to "positive speak" and celebrate the work the shelter is doing for your community

  • Have a team meeting about being cat-friendly and discuss cat-friendly handling (resources available from American Association of Feline Practitioners at http://catvets.com)

What You'll Get in Return:

  • The chance to gain new patients…think long-term!

  • A short-term initiative that will build your team's cat knowledge and skills

  • Fodder for Facebook: This is something to celebrate and show off your practice; artwork and copy provided

  • Enhance your relationship with your local animal welfare organizations

  • Gratification for what you are doing for your practice, your patients and your community!

If you have further questions about joining the Maryland 2,000, please contact Jane Brunt, DVM, Past-President of the MDVMA and practice owner of Cat Hospital at Towson (CHAT) at jbrunt@catdoc.com.
